Beowulf: The Connections with Rap

Contends that, while there are no evolutionary connections between these two styles, there is a striking similarity between these two cultures even though they are separated by both time and geography. While the target of the violence and the causes and consequences of that violence is certainly different, the protagonist's braggadocio in Beowulf is a reflection of the culture of today's rappers.
