Fikret Berkes' "Traditional Ecological Knowledge In Perspective": Critical Review
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Culturally differing attitudes toward the concept of nature and environment significantly impact upon ideas of human existence as they relate to knowledge, inasmuch as there is no way to escape the influence that nature has upon virtually every aspect of life. Fikret Berkes' "Traditional Ecological Knowledge in Perspective" acknowledges the fact that typically, cultural elements represent the primary differences that exist between and among various peoples and the manner by which they interact with the environment around them, for the reason that culture stands as the dictating force behind issues associated with nature. No additional sources cited.

Film Analysis / Silkwood
[ send me this paper ]
In this 4 page report, the writer finds that Silkwood -- the biographical account of a plutonium plant worker who died mysteriously in an auto crash as she was about to expose nuclear safety violations-- shies away from taking a definitive stand on who precisely was responsible for the institutional negligence at the plant and ultimately, for Karen Silkwood's death. The writer also feels that the film is clearly slanted toward the positions of labor and the environmental-protection movement yet never tells us who was guilty. No Bibliography.

Florida Beach Erosion
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page research paper that examines the erosion of Florida's beaches, how it occurs and what is being done to offset it. The writer argues that while officials, on the local, state and national level, are concerned about this problem, an examination of the forces behind beach erosion demonstrates that there is only so much that technology can do. In the final evaluation, humanity still is at the mercy of nature concerning this issue and can only hope to offset, rather then alter, the forces that cause beach erosion. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
