Alternative Fuel Cars: Alcohol vs. Electric
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper discussing the design, durability and safety of alcohol-powered and electric cars, particularly GM's EV1. As for which is "best," it appears that alcohol-powered vehicles provide a good alternative to gasoline-powered cars for the short term, buying time for further development of the various electric versions that are becoming more common and more affordable. In the long term, however, it is the electric approach that needs to be regarded as "best." Current models are highly limited in their range, but the further development and refinement of the use of fuel cells will give future purchasers greater freedom of movement outside the city limits. Bibliography lists 15 sources in 23 footnotes.

Alternatives to Animal Testing
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page research paper that examines the issues surrounding alternatives to animal testing. Examination of why researchers should consider alternatives to animal testing in laboratories show that the arguments against this practice are persuasive and backed up with empirical research. These arguments state that (1) animal testing is often simply an entrenched procedure, which is continued due to tradition and law, rather than its efficacy; (2) successful alternative methods for testing have been discovered, which makes it logical to assume that further alternatives could be formulated; (3) animal testing is expensive as compared to alternative methods; (4) alternative methods are produce faster results, and (5) animal testing is cruel and, therefore, immoral. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
